Buns From Home is a notable family-run bakery established shortly after the Covid lockdown. As the brand expanded, K&D were appointed to construct the Sloane Square timber shopfront.

Located just beside Sloane Square station, the unit occupies just 8m2 of space. K&D worked closely with Studio XM to ensure we optimised the limited space and adapted to the existing architecture within the area. The shopfront was constructed using Accoya, European Oak and Sapele, ensuring durability, quality and visual harmony with its surroundings.

The design incorporates two stable doors on either side of the shopfront for access/functionality, as well as the balance of the external harmony. A central sash window and display form the focal point of the frontage, creating a warm, homely feeling that reflects the bakery’s origin – where the founder began baking for neighbours from his mother’s kitchen during the first month of the Covid lockdown.

The sash window slides vertically, allowing for customers to be served directly at the window. The stable doors can be operated half-open for customer interaction and payment handling, or fully opened to facilitate deliveries and staff access. Top hung casements are fitted above the stable doors to provide additional ventilation during the baking process.

All joinery was fully finished to match Farrow & Ball’s Mizzle, a soft greyish green for a soft, welcoming tone.
